Sunday May 15th, the Seattle Metro Arcade Collectors held the last repair party down in Tumwater WA leading up to the NW Pinball and Game Room Show. Tumwater is just a short distance from Olympia WA, so I invited Ken Layton to come on over and hang with us and shoot the breeze.

Ken shows up and after a couple of short introductions, jumps into monitor repairs with both feet. Thanks to Ken's help, the group was able to repair a 25" 7000, 2 - GO7's, and 2 - 4600's in a very short time. We also got a Joust wired up with a new harness and tested two complete boardsets and a Defender boardset.

We even had time for pizza and to shoot the breeze.

Thanks for coming Ken, I had a great time and appreciate all of the help that you gave us today.

Pretty much when ever i am stuck on something now i just pm him, he always has the answer or where to get it. Great guy! Cool Pic Dok, thx for putting it up.

I'd want a picture w/ Ken L. Too far to meet him but I try to read and digest every single post of his I see so that I learn something new. I feel like I know you/him already!

Man, I thought I was pale..... you guys truly represent the great WHITE north. :D

Ken rocks.... Just when you think you have something that Ken might be unsure of....you're quickly reminded he has seen/done a lot. KLOV is definitely lucky to have Mr. Layton in the family.

we should start calling him the Professor

It was a fun day, that's for sure! Brad was a great host, and even though I didn't have anything to work on I was soaking up knowledge like a sponge!

Yeh that one 25" k7000 had an open resistor in the power supply section. R101 which is a 6.8 k, 3 watt resistor had gone bad (open circuit) which prevented the monitor from even trying to power up. Fortunately, there was a parts k7000 chassis handy and we robbed one off of it. There were no local parts suppliers open on the weekend to buy one of those resistors.

That was a super fun day, I can't believe it was 10 years ago.
Ken will definitely be missed😢
