I have two sets of complete chips for DKJR, one set recently burnt by Riptor and the other from a buy I did on here. The second set could possibly be original? (minus Z80A and the sound chip), but this is coming from a complete new guy dealing with arcades. I only need to keep one set, what set does everyone think I should keep.

Freshly programmed chips are less likely to suffer from "bit rot" than older ones.

Actually if its bit rot you dont even need to erase them most of the time, just re-burn over it.
I probably burned those on nos chips.

I would have assumed a chip was no good if the contents had changed, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to reading/writing roms. It's very rare that I have the need to do it.

I didn't know what chips you used and I'm having no problems. I just wanted to hear the communities opinion on the topic.

General rule for me: EVERY board I work on I reprogram the entire eprom set. I double check a MAME master for it.

Definitely saved my bacon, one latest pinball repair was an Atari Superman and the main program was bonkered...

A programmer/burner might be in my future if a problem arises or I get more into arcades.
