Were there any differences in the cab between single player and player vs. player cabs?
does anyone have photos of a player vs. player control panel attached to the cab? inside and out?
thanks
blake

here are a few pics of the control panels i have. the one with the overlay was orginally a single player kc. notice the holes for the joysticks differ by 1/4". they are 1.5" on the single player and 1.75" on the player vs player(not positive this cp is a kc but its fits the joysticks perfect.). notice the differences in how they attach.
thanks

An old 1984 replay magazine article said that the first batch of cabinets were made in Japan by Data East (which have the 2 piece Data East coin door), and the later cabinets were made in the US by Dynamo.

There are also Data East ads stating that the "single player" version are field test only and accounted for, and only the "player vs. player" version is the only "legal" version released in the US.

That said, I don't believe one cabinet was specifically designed for one version over the other. In fact, I would guess the single player version should have only one set of joysticks.

Oddly, the version I grew up playing was the single player version - in the same city as Data East's US headquarters. I can't recall what the CPO looked like though, but I recall it having the standard over/under door which would make it the Dynamo cabinet.

I just took some pics, so here you go. There is a "Made In Japan" tag on the cab. And I am told the coin door is an early "Made In Japan" style.

As far as I remember, here are the two types of dedicated cabinets.

we got a Karate Champ at work that had the single player setup. after asking around here about it, someone mentioned the holes that pop out of the control panel. so I converted it to player vs. player.

what's weird is it has the latches on the sides, and I don't see any existing holes under the monitor where they could've gone.
