I have searched all the threads looking for pics of Karate Champ bootleg PCB's trying to find the correct number sequence related to the roms on the A and B boards. I found pics showing the column and rows, but the stickers showing the rom numbers are not consistant or don't even match the rom numbers on the official Data East stickers.

The stickers look stamped and then installed in different orders. I am confused. If anyone can post a pic of both A and B bootleg PCB that is working and the rom numbers in the correct location it would be greatly appreciated.

I did find a site with a list of roms and locations but I need to bounce this list off of a working boardset showing the numbers on top of each rom chip.

I have dumped each rom chip bin file using my GQ-4X. I then tried to verify the dumped file using HN482764 for my device. The verification is failing using the dumped file. I have tried several other rom images from the Data East rom set, b000 thru b026, with no success. I am successful on the B PCB, just not on the A PCB.

I got the information below from this site:

http://softwarethis.com/arcade/boards/lt/info/lt.txt

Bottom board had roms labeled 0 - 15

My numbers don't match and neither do other PCB's that I have found. Here some pics of my A PCB and other A PCB's from the KLOV site. The first pic is my PCB and the other three pics are taken from other threads on the forums. I have a working Karate Champ game using an official Data East PCB board set in a converted Kung Fu Master cab. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are a few pics of the graphics issues that I am getting.

I re-verified the rom files using a different method. I found one chip that would not verify. I burned the bin file to another chip and verified the write. Installed the PCB back in the game and the video was ever worse than before. Removed the new rom chip, put the old rom chip back in and the bad video images are still the same as it was before.

The monitor is a WG4900, working great with the Data East original PCB, no need for a cap kit.

So my next question is......would the harness connection be wrong? No, because I tested the bootleg board on a dedicated Karate Champ with all original parts with the same results. I believe it is still the related to the rom images. If anyone can please help, it would greatly appreciated.

You might have better luck in the repair forum, but FWIW, that looks like a RAM-related issue to me anyway.

Also, to your original post, I'm not exactly sure I get your question, but have you tried using ROMIDENT to figure out which ROMs are which?

Pete

Hey Pete!

My original question:

What are the correct number sequence for the bootleg roms related to the official roms?

My PCB numbers are different from other bootleg roms with numbers on the each chip.

I am not familiar with ROMIDENT, I will do more research to figure out which ROMs are which.

I have identified all of the roms, locations on the PCB's and verified each one. I found a few chips that were corrupt and reburned the rom chips, but I still have the same issues with the video.

Thanks Pete for your helping me identify the correct rom files.
