Hi guys!
I have a K7800 (13" chassis) I'm working on. When I got the game, it had a great picture. After a couple months, I get this really strange smell going on like something's frying, and I go look at the game, the monitor has a strange issue where the horizontal deflection looks weird, it looks almost like somebody's pulled the yoke back about an inch, there's a ring visible on the screen, the corners are curled in, and the convergence is off on everything. It looked exactly like how one looks when you don't have the yoke up where it's supposed to be.

Of course the yoke was exactly where it's supposed to be, etc. So I did a capkit, put a new hot in, and a new flyback. Picture looked PERFECT then. I figured it was a flyback issue.

So after about a month, I get the same damn problem, it looks exactly the same and smells like something's frying. Fuse never blows, although it's the correct amp. Screen looks exactly the same.

So I switched the flyback out with another new one (I've been getting some bad flybacks lately!), and no change, still the same image. The B+ is sitting at about 122.5 which is within spec I believe, and I checked the diodes by the a/c and none were blown. None of the caps look distorted or anything, and the hot doesn't test as shorted (which would also have blown the fuse, right?). I'm thinking I've got a cap or resistor out of value somewhere.... anybody have any clues?

Thanks in advance!

Ron
