So Ive got a picture now thanx to shopboyroy but the image is garbled. Not sure whats wrong anyone have any ideas I can see the dos screen when its booting up but its just strips of colors when the game boots. Monitor model is WGM 3976-U2GS27B (K7600) and its hooked up via a mega jamma board. Not sure where the fault lies need some tips or guesses.

Here are a few pictures

There are no sync controls on the remote board where might they be located?

They will be labeled 'hold'. If they aren't on the remote board than they will be on the main chassis of the monitor.

I can't see your pics, is this a MAME set-up?

No its a star trek voyager cockpit. I cant find a manual for the chassis and its very heavy I will scan the board again.Could it be labeled trap?

I think it's commonplace for WG monitors that if a control isn't on the remote it's on the chassis itself.

just playing captain obvious I guess. :) glad you got it.

Im not in the know for alot of things but now I know check the chassis next time duh ;-p. The first thing I thought was the hold was off or the dip switches were set wrong but I assumed if it wasnt on the remote board there was no way to adjust it.

yeah, however, I have a cab with a bummed JAMMA harness, I not only had to replace the pins and wires for the video wiring, but had to hot glue the bastards in place too.

reason I mention this, I had the same problem as you, except it was poor continuity between the JAMMA edge and the sync on the monitor.

that however, if you have a good enough eye for that sort of thing, shows up a little different. if it's the H-Phase or H-Hold, it'll have flat scrambled lines -- absence of composite sync (meaning 1 sync wire handles both vertical and horizontal sync) will result in squiggly diagonal line patterns. I'm assuming it's diagonal cause it's not syncing both vertically and horizontally at the same time. :)
