well, monitor in Carnevil has been acting up for quite awhile now, unbeknowst to me. since the hard drive failure has the same exact symptom of a blank screen, I never bothered to do the "blind test" and came to find out this problem has been with the monitor all along.

I suspect the obvious that it's a cap issue, but I was wondering if anyone had any other opinions to lend as to why a power cycle or two would get the monitor to come back and work fine the entire weekend we're open and now it shuts down and stays off. (again, obvious cap symptom)

I have a few scrap 7500s laying around, any caps in particular that I could try changing out or should I just wait it out until I get a full kit to drop in?

thanks

I did some looking around on google. Ken says it's common for the Xray Shutdown pot to get messed up from the glue Wells sealed them with. sure enough, turning the G2 down, the monitor fired up and still worked. been adjusting it back up gradually.

the weird line along the side went away too. makes me believe the screen was cranked and the brightness/contrast were dialed way down.

so maybe it's the shutdown pot is broken or maybe it's just doing its job.

so alas, this once it wasn't caps.

what's entailed in replacing that shutdown pot? is the "adjustment" on it just like a sensitivity thing?

won't be able until after the weekend now, otherwise yeah, caps would be a good idea.

what should I do about the shutdown pot then? I got the monitor to work fine and the guns are targeting good enough, but I think any higher on the G2 and it'll start shutting down again. :/

After you cap it, you'll probably find your range to be different than what it is now.

As for the pot, you can buy a new one if necessary. As for setting it, it might say in the Service Manual...
