I hate to ask such a simple question but I have scoured the net and can't find a direct answer...

I acquired a minty k7400 last night but someone has disconnected the yoke wires from the chassis...

I know that Green Yellow is Vertical and Red Blue is Horizontal, but which wire goes to which pin?

In the pic below, I have labeled the Yoke connections with red arrows... The Horizontal connection is on the left and the Vert is on the right...

Can anyone tell me which wire goes to the correct pin for both H and V?

Thanks in advance!

Your two pairs of connectors should have different spacing preventing them from being plugged in the wrong header. Unless your wires do not have connectors on them? (dangerous)

Red/Blue go on the header with the wider spacing, and the yellow/green is the smaller width connector.

Also, take a look at your pcb. It's stilkscreened right there. Vertical and horizontal.

As far as which way they're plugged in, it doesn't matter. If your image is flipped vertically (up side down) then just unplug the vertical connector and flip it 180 degrees. Same with the horizontal.

I just capped my first k7400 on Saturday. From memory, as you are looking at the chassis from the rear (installed position) the yellow/white pair is on the rightmost header with yellow on the left, and the red/blue pair is on the center header with red closest to you.

Yes, the chassis is labeled correctly. I understand the red blue connector goes to the Horizontal Yoke pins on the left... My question was which one goes on the top pin and which one on the bottom...

For vert, which one goes on the right pin and which one on the left.

There is no correct answer for that question. The answer varies depending on what game you have hooked up to the monitor. Some games output video inverted or mirror image. You'll just need to hook it up and turn it on. If the image is correctly oriented, then you're good. If your image is either vertically or horizontally flipped, you'll need to rotate the appropriate connector.

FYI, flip the connectors with the power OFF to the monitor.

Like I've already said...

And like I'VE said, that's not always true. If you hook it up like that for Operation Wolf (mirrored game), you will get an image that's wrong horizontally.

If you hook it up like that for Double Dragon, you will get an image that's both upside down AND mirror imaged. Thankfully, Double Dragon gives you a dip switch to change the monitor orientation, but not all PCB's do this for you.

The only sure fire way to know that the monitor will work correctly with your game pcb is to hook it up and display the image. If it's correct, then you're done. If not, you may need to rotate yoke connectors.

True true, every game is different. Those orientations were for the game I did that had a horizontal k7400 with no software image flip.

While it's true it depends on the game, the DEFAULT setup is:

1: Red
2: Blue
3: Yellow
4: Green

Just like a normal K7000. The only difference is that it's separated. You can even see the break where they cut it between Blue and Yellow.

Looking at the chassis, pin 1 is next to the flyback closest to you. Pin 2 is behind it. Pin 3 is the left pin of the connector near U601. Pin 4 is the right pin...
