K7200 won't sync? Diagonal flipping... please help!

Hey Gang...I picked up a Double DK game that the previous owner had said the monitor wasn't working, probably the flyback.

I opened it up & I don't think it's actually a Double DK (or DK2), as it's just a little JAMMA board.

It had a new(er) style monitor (I haven't ID'd it yet, not the OG Sanyo, as this is just a JAMMA type setup) that was kind of hacked into place to fit in the cabinet, like they used tin snips to cut part of the monitor frame & the chassis was in place, but that part of the frame was starting to slip. I turned it on after everything looked ok (aside from the cut frame) and the flyback was just clicking & the game played blind.

I popped the monitor out... (this is the one that was in the game)

So, I had a spare monitor, a WG K7200 which needed a cap kit & a new flyback itself, so I got those from Bob Roberts and replaced the parts in question, reflowed anything that looked suspect and installed it in the DK Combo Double whatever...

And I can't seem to get the monitor to sync. The pot on the chassis for H Hold (or is it Pos?) gets it pretty close sometime, but is just starts flipping again. The pots on the remote only make slight adjustments & nothing really any better.

You can make out the elements of the game flipping by diagonally (I can sometimes get it so it's positioned correctly (vertically) but still flipping... and it doesn't last long as the flipping starts going diagonal.

Being JAMMA, I was thinking it would be negative composite sync, but it seems no matter if I hook the 2 sync (white & yellow?) to where the the other syncs are on the chassis, it doesn't seem to make a difference... either way, when the sync wires are connected or disconnected, the symptoms are the same...

Since the monitor that was in there only used the regular RGB(G)SyncSync type connector, I didn't modify the connection (from the JAMMA harness) at all.

The pins seem to be making fine contact to the wires (sync, colors, ground)...

Any help here?

If nothing else, I can put the first monitor back in after ordering & replacing the flyback on that one... see if that does it.

Just a question if your RGBGS are the same why is there extra pins on the connector not used? Try tying in your yellow and white wires together for the sync.

I don't know if the RGBGS is the same, I'm judging that off of a typical K7000 series connection... where there's the extra 3 pins (which are a separate connector, usually) that's (top to bottom in that photo) -H, -V, GND... the yellow & the white are currently going to the +V and H sync (I think).

So far, it didn't seem like either the - or + sync pins made a difference.

I did try tying the syncs together (if they are indeed composite) but that didn't work either.

Would you be able to take a picture of the original connector that connected to the chassis? I would actually try a different board because I see a vga connector on there for maybe output to a flat screen as well as a power connector.

I didn't change the connector from the board. I literally pulled the bad monitor out, put a k7200 monitor in (once I did the cap kit and new flyback on it).

Ugh, well... gone from bad to worse over here.

First things first, I tried every combination of pins & sync and nothing changed anything. I also checked continuity between the connector and the pins (while together), as well as at the game board up to the chassis... and they were all good.

While adjusting the sync wires, nothing else, everything just went black on the screen. I have no idea what happened. I figured it was something with this multi-game jamma board at that point. I grabbed another jamma board I had and fired the game up & got the same exact sync issues. I put this multi jamma in another game and got no signal. The board no longer works. WTF? Just like that?

So now, not only do I not have a board for this DK setup, the monitor still has the sync issue, even after further research.

i noticed that the multi kong thing did not have a key way.
did you accidentally plug it in backwards.
if you did you smoked the multi kong.

on the 7200 for sync you only need to use pin 10 for JAMMA games.

the way you have it now in the pic you are using the wrong pins.
you also should only need to use the wite or yellow wire not both.

Peace

Buffet- it actually does (did) have a keyway, so it was plugged in correctly.

Hmmm...I'll have to look again at the wires. I can't remember which, but after I looked closer only one of the sync wires actually made it all the way down to the edge connector, so that's the one I was using...no luck though. I'll recheck stuff tonight with what you've written.
