I am trying to fix a K7131 that appears to be a Zenith. It looks like the Zenith pictured on Bob Roberts' site. I also compared it to a K7100 I have and the flyback is definitely different. I understand that I can't get a flyback for the Zenith, according to all I've read here. As I am fixing this for someone else, do I just tell him he has to bite the bullet and spring for a new monitor? I don't want to sink a never-ending stream of $$ into what I have seen referred to here as a "money pit". Thanks.

If it's a K7000 with a Zenith chassis...yep, he's screwed.

For those of you who have made repro flybacks, what's involved? There have got to be a ton of blown Zenith K7000s out there.

The schematics and component layout are about the same as the usual k7000 except for the different flyback. Check the critical safety capacitor C36 for shorted condition. Same for diode D18 and horizontal output transistor.

If it turns out you have a bad flyback, there are no replacement flybacks for the Zenith version of the k7000/k7191, etc.

You can use a Wei-Ya replacement chassis, model 825H (prefered) or model 826H (substitute) to make this a working monitor again. Purchase from Alva Amusement.

OK, I want to start with the one part that I have on hand - the HOT. Or, at least I think I do. I have the D1398 that the regular K7000 calls for but I see that the Zenith has a TZ 1167-01. Is my 1398 interchangeable with this 1167? (At this point, I'm thinking what the heck do I have to lose?) Thanks.

I'm gonna go with the Wei Ya but I can't get Alva to respond. Is there anywhere else to get this replacement board for my 7131? Thanks.

How have you tried contacting Alva amusement? Email only? If so, maybe your email is being caught in a spamfilter. I've had my AOL emails not get through and I've had to use a different account.

Try telephoning Alva amusement.

I got my chassis from Alva. They sent me the 826H instead of the 825H that I ordered. It would have been nice if they had told me while I was on the phone that they were going to substitute. Also, this thing came with no specs or any documentation at all. Is there anything special I should know before I get into this? Thanks.
