I have heard/seen multiple threads about there being no repro flybacks for a WG K7xxx monitors. My question is if you had 2 K7xxx chassis sitting side by side how can you tell which one goes to the Zenith and which one goes to the RCA or Phillips? Is it just simply the part number on the fly back or something else? And...is anyone working on a replacement? Sorry thought I was in the monitor thread.

The issue with K7000 chassis isn't the tube. It's the Zenith Chassis which use the weird flyback. If your chassis has a red wire that goes from the flyback to a black square box and then a red wire goes from that box to your anode cup, you have a zenith. Replacement flybacks are not made for this chassis.

zenith chassis has a very very unique flyback that reproduced, trust me youll definately be able to tel the difference...

i have used a wells chassis on a zenith built monitor using the zenith supplied yoke and tube with wells chassis..

zenith made the monitors to wells specs, howver of course they fidged the design to use thier own krappy flybacks

Sorry I meant chassis. I have 3 all sitting on my shelf that at one time did work. The only thing I have been able to find that is tubes are Zenith.

Be careful with this description. I'm pretty sure the medium-res chassis' that I worked on for Paperboy had this box also, but were not K7000A's....

Not all of those are Zenith chassis. I have one - 7181 I think - that has this and is a regular WG chassis.

The Zenith chassis are usually brown instead of green in color.

From my understanding if you have a K7000 sd res chassis with the funky flyback then you have yourself a Zenith. I had a Zenith chassis that looked just like a regular WG K7000 until you got to the flyback. As far as the color of the chassis goes, there are some SI K7000 chassis that can use the standard flybacks but are brown in color so I can't really say that the color is big factor in determinig this.

Here's a picture of a Zenith chassis on Bob Robert site. It looks just like a regular K7000 except for the flyback (and remote board but the remote board isn't an indicator).

I guess the only way to really tell is by the part number on the flyback. If you can find a replacement flyback you're good if you can't you're screwed.

ok, let me try to get this straight. Just because the tube is Zenith doesn't always mean the chassis is?

Sorry for digging up this 5-year old thread!

Regarding the "have all Zenith-tubes a Zenith-fiddled-K7000-chassis" question:

I have a nice working K7000 (#K7197) in my dedicated Mortal Kombat 1 machine.

The picture tube is a Zenith G-A63ADG25X.
When i compare my chassis to the "Zenith-chassis" on Bob Roberts site (link in threads above) there is no "flyback-to-zenith-box-to-anodecup" thing around and the pcbs are green in color.

Am i right this means i have a Zenith tube with a Wells Gardner spec K7000 chassis?
Looks i can use a standard K7000 flyback for replacement? (which would be nice because i already thought i have the one with the obsolete zenith-flyback)
