I'm doing some repairs on a K7000. While visually inspecting the board, I noticed some of the resistors are rusting a bit. I have no reason to believe they are the cause of my problems, but would it make sense to replace these while I am working on the board to prevent problems down the road, or if it ain't broke, don't fix it?

Yes replace them. Better to do it now while you have the chassis out. Remember an ounce of prevention is worth more then a pound of cure.

Thanks for the tip! I found replacements on Mouser, but how can I tell if I need Metal Oxide or Metal Film resistors?

the parts list should specify MO or MF and if it doesn't then my personal rule is replace 1w and higher with MO but make sure the PPM and other specs such as flammability are proper for their use. if you ever want to try kits with way higher quality, longer lasting caps give us a try. VZ is nichicons lowest quality caps and 1000 hour or less which most of ours are 5000-10,000 hour and higher caps plus low esr.
