The monitor works and looks nice, though it has what I would describe as a subtle flashing or surging on the left center of the screen.

I have a cap kit handy I am thinking of installing and to see what happens.

It has one of the flybacks with the black knobs on it.
Does this mean I don't need to automatically change it? I thought I remember people saying the white knob'd flybacks need to be changed immediately.

just cap it and see where it leads me?

depends if the flashing is gameboard glitch or monitor...
might be bum electron guns.. if you have the time upload a video of the issue.

ok, I will try to do that.
I may just go rejuve it and cap it and take it from there.
thanks for the response!

I bought a k7000 chassis from someone recently, hooked it up and it's doing the same thing I think. Does it make a pop noise when it flashes? This one also has the black knobs on the flyback.

if yours is making a "pop" noise it sounds like the flyback is arcing.

you will probably need to change that.

This doesn't have distinct flashing to it as much as it has a constant underroll/underscroll to the main screen.
