K7000 White Knob Flyback "Screech Of Death"

thats coming form the flyback? Sounds like a high voltage leak or a high voltage jump to frame somewhere.

Yeah. It was internal to the flyback. It sounded like what leaks inside the neck sound like, but it was coming from inside the flyback. Just installed a new flyback. The sound is gone. Don't have an explanation, but the sound went away when I replaced the flyback. Everything is adjusted and looking great! This monitor will be going in my recently acquired Double Dragon II.

cool! If you watch the video close enough you can see the high voltage leaking and hitting the iron core right around the split. Theres probably a crack in the plastic case.

white knob flybacks are still better than the replacements. just because a white knob flyback fails the same way any flyback can doesn't make it any more prone to failure or that everyone needs to drop what they're doing and replace them immediately.

I've seen more factory and replacement black knob flybacks fail than white knobs.

I'd argue that K7400/7500 flybacks still have the highest rate of failure of anything WG ever made. I'm sure Chad will agree with me on every count.

depending on where you get the replacement it may be bad out of the box.

If the the flyback is good I leave it alone and bullet proof the rest of the chassis!

I do too but if it's a g07 or k7000 you gotta replace them because they are very bad and can crack in half and all kinds of weird stuff.

I know they can but I feel the older flybacks are better and if they are working and good condition I leave them alone..I always run G07 b+ a little lower..Really seams to save the flybacks over time...

even when the original fly backs do go its not like they take out any unobtanium. I say leave em be. I've limped along K7000's for years that had holes in the cases. Big blob of silicone glue, let it dry and be on your way. YEARS...
