I installed a new flyback because the old one had cracks in the casing and gave me a nice jolt when I tried to adjust the screen pot. I also touched up some solder in the middle of the board that looked blackened. Powered it back on and heard a few pops/burning smell. There's glow to the neck, but all that I get is a line across the middle of the screen (vertical collapse, I guess). Initially couldn't see any blown caps/resistors/transistors until I noticed a hole in the middle of IC3. Not sure why anything would burn by just replacing the flyback.

UPDATE: I replaced IC3 this evening and no change. Still getting a line down the middle of the screen. Since I heard 2 pops, I'm guessing there is still something else that burned.

Any help is appreciated.

check the resisters , diode and ceramic caps behind the ic3 heat sink.
i had some of those burn up or pop when ic3 blew.
after testing and replacing the bad parts it came back to life.

I have to read up on testing those things. Any specific locations that typically burn when ic3 blows?

Thanks for the help.
