Just did a tube swap for a 19" K7000 -- the old tube had a lot of burn and was pretty shot. This new tube came from a tv. I did a straight swap and so left the new tube's yoke in place. The image looks great, much improved over the old tube.
But when I adjust the vertical size pot to fill more of the screen, I get a vertical bright stripe down the side, and when a game scrolls on that spot it warps. If I adjust vertical size back down I can get rid of it, but then of course the image is a bit narrow with unused space on the sides. Below you can see both scenarios with the new tube:
When I plugged back in the old tube and adjusted vertical size, it covers the entire screen with no issue. But once the screen is covered, the pot will continue a bit further, and then I see the vertical bright stripe.
Someone suggested a possible issue with the vertical deflection IC, but trying another showed no change.
I'm kinda guessing that nothing is wrong per se, but that I may need the old yoke on the new tube in order to cover the entire screen surface before I hit the vertical size pot max which then causes the stripe?
