UPDATE: K7000 std. res to med. res question

Ok,
-had a GT running a K7400 chassis (standard res., working just fine)
-Swapped in a K7500 chassis (med. res., was working fine in other monitor)
-Picture now is very, very dull. Can barely see.

NOTE: I broke the pins of the BDX 53C transistor swapping the chassis's.

My question is would the missing transistor be the culprit? Thanks guys!

um, that would be a good place to start.... thats that remotely mounted transistor right??? Without that working, you wont have power to alot of things inclusing some adjustment pots, iirc**if this is setup like a u5000***

so yeah either way you need it for the monitor to work properly..

STOP RUNNING THE MONITOR UNTILL IT IS REPLACED.

missing pieces are never good. on top of that, I cant believe it syncs up.(or is the gt res switchable?)

heres a quick "repair guide" i d call it a cheat sheet.

1) No, the missing transistor is not the culprit. If it is not connected, it causes a picture size issue.

2) The reason you have a dim picture is because the K7400 and K7500 use different yokes. Your issue is commonly seen when trying to display a med-res chassis with a standard-res yoke...

wow i need to learn how to read.... i read that as swapped monitors not just chassis... definately a mismatch going on.. good lord. i think old age is getting to me.

Haha yeah thanks guys...yep couple have mentioned it's the yoke issue.

Which leads me to the question of whether it's worth it to try to switch the yokes. Never removed/reinstalled one...so I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle and chance of messing things up just to go from std. res to medium res.

An update, and need some help...

Did the cap kit and transitor, but now I'm just getting a scrambled screen that stops the picture about 80% down.

I don't have a ton of time to troubleshoot this now...anyone want to take a crack at it? I have a party the 30th and was hoping to get it working by then. Perhaps one of you guys has some downtime over the holiday?

Let me know...thanks.
