I have a K7000 that will power on for about a minute, then power off. No neck glow after that minute. I can turn the system off and write back on, and it is back, for about another minute, then back off. Any ideas of what to start looking for?

holy flowchart, batman. looking at it now, hope i can find an answer in there...

Read the overview about the K7000, not the flow chart. It seems IC4 is the most common cause. But, you check your voltages to be sure or just shotgun it.

It does seem that this is a hv shutdown. the game will stay at the attract scrren for awhile, but when you start a game, the screen has a flash (that is in the game), then the screen shutsdown. i have never really messed with a monitor. i am guessing i have to pull this out to check the voltages? it is in a midway cab.... ho/where do i test my voltages...

Ok, I have pulled the monitor and cleared the voltage from the flyback. The chasis says k7194. Where do I need to check for this B+ voltage?

monitor pulled and ready to test. what/where should i test? i would really like to get this monitor running as i now have 2 k7000s that are not working. i need atleast 1 going...

The flowchart mentions where to test the voltages.

Re:

I had a K7200 with the same problem, replaced the caps and it worked, but now the flyback is arcing...oh well...

Had the same problem with my K7000 even after a cap kit. Had to replace the HV Shutdown pot because the original factory glue somehow killed it. It's been working fine now.

If it works for a minute then goes down, I would suspect either a cold solder joint or a part that is failing due to overheating...

possibly mod, when I read about the flash on the screen doing it though, I agree with HV shutdown.

go over all suspect solder joints, particularly on the neckboard and the input header, any big resistors, etc.

caps help, had a K7000 on a Suzuka do the same shit where the monitor would just black out. that predates my time of tinkering with this stuff though, I didn't even re-cap it. but it worked again afterwards, lol.

did you ever figure out how to measure the B+? I don't know how to on a K7000.

check for 120vac at the monitor power plug after it pukes out.. if its still getting power to the chassis, check the fuse holder(POWER OFF!!) Those holders will get weak and lose contact/run hot/etc. while the chassis is out also check for burnt or cracked solder connections

best of luck!
