Finally got my monitor and chassis working and hooked it up to my XP machine with Soft15k running on it. The pics below show what it looks like with the PC connected to the monitor (first pic) and then the second is without the PC hooked up. Anyone recognize the issue?

Naturally everything works if I flip Soft15k off and plug into my desktop LCD monitor...

what have you done to the chassis.

new caps, fly, re-flow??

i know nothing about running Mame. but does it work correctly with a regular jamma/non jamma game hooked to it. or do you not have that option to try.

that way we know what is up with the chassis.
also it seems you have the brightness or screen or contrast up to high.

Peace
Buffett

yeah, you have to first determine if the problem is the monitor, or the "soft15k" thingy...

Looks like a sync issue to me. What header pin is your sync on?

It is a hacked VGA cable. I have a feeling it is something monitor-related, mostly due to that is where my greatest lack of knowledge is, so it is to be expected... :)

Any other suggestions for sources to feed the monitor so I can rule out if it is a PC issue or not?

I bought the cabinet, with the monitor in it. I was told it worked, but it had no chassis. I then bought a "refurb'd" k7000 here and finally got it hooked up and powered. So I think the chassis "should be good"...

Do you have any working arcade PCBs you can hook up to the K7000?

If this setup is in a JAMMA wired cab you could put any cheap working game in there to make sure the K7000 is working properly.

You either need another arcade monitor to test your PC/Soft15 setup,
- or -
a working arcade PCB with known good video output to test your monitor.

For situations like these I have a simple test rig made up of a 4-in-1 PCB (old version of the 60in1), a computer power supply, and a cheap JAMMA harness. I plug it in and hook up the video output of the JAMMA harness to the monitor for testing.

I could never get soft15k to work on my mame setup. I had the same sync issues and I tried for weeks then I gave up and bought a 60-1.

Best bet would be to get a arcadeVGA. I was gonna do that but then I got a deal on a 60-1 board.

That sounds like a nice setup. I guess I need to work on something like that...
