Fixed! turns out hidden under the black wire on the chassis it had a solder drip bridging 4 connections. Desoldered with a braid and it fired right up. Dont know how I missed that!

The loss of video was in fact caused by the pcb I was testing the monitor with. Never thought the board could be dying ;-). Just realized today when I went to use it to test sound on a cab.
