Here's a pic of the monitor in my Mace cab. I haven't capped it yet, just threw in good extra parts I had (flyback and hot) before I put those in the monitor wouldn't fire.

So any ideas on this one.

Cap kit, vr, and all the other goodies are on their way from Bob.

Thanks

Is the yoke still attached to the tube?

DogP

This is a K7000 with the original yoke and tube ?
Has the yoke been moved significantly? (slid back or pushed forward)

Just a weird issue for a K7000. (as of any that I have seen anyways)

I have no idea about the yoke.

So I'm assuming this is not a chassis issue? Good, I have a another tube. I was going to swap them, but wanted to post here first.

The yoke/tube scenario is definitely the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw your pic. Exactly why is hard to pinpoint without further investigation and details.

If you do swap tubes let us know the results.

Just finished the tube swap. Same result. Would a flyback do this?

I guess I could pull the 7000 out of my hard drivin. But since I finally got that biatch fixed, I really don't want to mess with it.

That's a weird one. I'd be leaning toward a yoke issue too.

When you said you did a tube swap, did you take the chassis and put it on another tube, or do a complete tube swap?

Same chassis completely different monitor and yoke.

If I get enough beers in me, I'll pull my hard drivn chassis and test again. I just want to leave that poor game alone for a while. I should be put in jail for pulling a chassis that many times :)

Okay, then it's a chassis issue.

I would examine the harness that the yoke plugs into. I bet the solder around those pins is horrible.

Once I worked on a K7000 chassis that literally had a thread of solder for the red wire on the yoke. Realistically it shouldn't have run at all like that (or very poorly) but it was working fine for 20 years before the flyback smoked on it.

I'll report back once I've shotgunned all the parts. I believe I ordered everything that can be ordered for a 7000 from Bob.....once again. Parts should be here Tuesday.

I'm leaning towards a focus issue. Check where the focus wire connects to the neck socket. Check the focus pin socket. Check the flyback for a hairline crack near the focus pot.

I've seen a similar issue like this on a G07 when the wire to the focus pot came loose....

Zenith according to the stickers

Zenith made tubes for a lot of different monitor manufacturers....If your yoke isn't from another K7000 series, it could cause all kinds of issues. The spare tube/yoke set up....do you know if it's from a Wells-Gardner 7000 series monitor?

I don't know. Would pics of the tube help?

It's not so much the tube....as the yoke. Tubes (within reason) are the same....if the neckboard fits it, it'll probably work. The yokes, on the other hand, can be very different.....even if they look alike. A yoke is specific for whatever chassis it was made for....they're not as interchangeable as a tube.

I agree with what others have said....it looks like a yoke issue. Makes me think you don't have Wells-Gardner yokes.....just a tube that happens to "fit". The only real way to figure out what you have......hopefully the yokes will still have a part number on them, and reference that number with Wells-Gardner manuals....see if you can figure out what monitor those yokes go to.

A photo of the back of the whole setup is a good start - that'll have a shot of the yoke, the chassis mount, everything important.

Maybe measure the resistance on the yoke windings and post those, might give us an idea or two.
(horizontal - blue/red and vertical - yellow/green pairs)

Check for burning or breakage of the yoke wires right at the connector that you plug into the chassis. (I've seen a couple wires break with just a slight tug)

Man o Man, I just fucked up royally.

I pulled the board from my Hard Drivin to test on this tube. This board originally came off the same tube (installed ALL new parts)

Hooked her up, checked my work twice. Flipped the switch and I see a spark then hear a poof. Shut it off within a second.

Nasty smell, pull the chassis and I blew a trace on the edge underneath completely off the board.

I didn't connect anything wrong, so I wonder what in the hell caused this. What is with me and 7000's!?!?!?!?!?
