holy shit. the top part of your screen is brighter than the rest, just like the monitors I've been dropping in my Tekken cab. I just made a post about this. lol

not sure what that pulsing thing is, but I'm inclined to say that it's power related, cause I had a Hantarex Polo and WG U5000 that both do that thing at the top of the screen like that.

out of curiosity, what kind of cab do you have, is it a dedicated MK2?

mine's a converted War Gods and it doesn't have an isolation transformer, do you know if yours does?

im almost thinking pcb issue...

is there a iso transformer in this cab as in are you running this monitor on isolated power?

also make sure you have video ground hooked up in the correct spot...

take a pic of how your video cable is hooked up to the monitor....

in my case it happened on multiple games (UMK3, Tekken 3, Tekken Tag)

he looks like he has a MAME rig there or something..

last night when I was calibrating the Polo it had all kinds of diagonal lines in the picture just like that, except just in the upper section where his monitor is super bright.

actually wait, if he's got a K7000 it NEEDS an iso. so he's got one, otherwise these die instantly. lol I'm gathering from the youtube thumbs that he's got an MK2 cab. so it appears that it's not related to an iso, cause I have the same prob without one.

OP, turn your brightness all the way down, then contrast all the way up. turn your Screen down on the flyback all the way and gradually step it up until you barely get grey on the screen. use a mirror or get someone to be your eyes. lol

after doing this, then turn your brightness up as high as it'll go before the blacks on screen start turning grey, and dial the contrast down until the color smearing goes away.

see if that helps. I think your Screen might be up too high. also after doing this, you'll have to adjust the Focus. and of course check your ground. make sure your CRT ground is hooked up to the neckboard. I guess check all the major connections on the monitor, and check that the neckboard is seated on properly too. and if you got a meter, check your voltage at the AC line. make sure it isn't batshit high.

am I correct in understanding this is a MAME rig too, with like an ArcadeVGA board? I don't know anything about those, it's why I ask.

Looks like the shadow of a UFO flying over it.

You may have a sync problem. Looks like the monitor is having a hard time 'initializing' the sync.

Have you tried to plug in another game board??? Same results?

Also, Randy Fromm has a good website for monitor info....

monitor

My first thought is your tube is shorting inside, that is why it gets bright(flyback also), also your neck board by the heater voltage pins should be measured and look at for external objects shorting out the pins. I have never seen anything go from corner to corner unless you had your syncs messed up.
Take you video off and turn up your screen so you can check if your raster is doing the same thing without the game board to isolate if game is screwing up or if it is the monitor.

monitor

Does the 7000 have a A.C. isolation transformer in the cabinet you just put this in because it needs it. I have seen 7000's run without them for awhile without blowing but it takes out your chassis and maybe this is your problem.

after messing with it tonight for awhile I think its a power issue and the reason it worked at the shop was it was reacting to a different iso and power supply. So i put my MK2 monitor in the mame machine and it looks great!! tomorrow I will put this new monitor into the mk2 and see what happens. Thanks everyone for taking the time and giving the advice

any one know where I can buy the harness's the monitor that i just swapped in my mk2 machine has different connections picture attached

Those parts can be purchased from Bob Roberts or Mouser. Bob is easier to deal with since he deals with arcade parts exclusively but Mouser is cheaper...

what am I looking for on mouser exactly?

I will need to look through the manual to find the part(s). In the mean time can you take a pic of what you are trying to convert it to work with? Most monitors and cabs came with a .093 housing containing two wires. Someimes it is a little different. This way I (or anyone else willing to step in here since I will not be able to look for this until later tonight)can give you an entire parts list.

Its just a connector find one that matches your Mortal kombat monitor at radio shack and you can just splice the new one on. Am I missing anything guys he shouldnt have to order that housing should be quite easy to locate locally and it wont cost 7 dollars to ship somthing that costs 50 cents.

If your local RS carries these connectors then it is better equipped than my local stores...

Even if you cant get the exact housing you could use three single pins to Connect the power. I buy my stuff from home depot or radio shack and most of the time I can get close to what I need.

Im not a very patient person however waiting is hard for me.

OK, what you have is on page 1446 of the Mouser catalog. You need a .093" receptacle/plug set. It is your choice if you use the 2 position or three position but make sure that the ground wire gets connected as well as the two power connectors.

To get you to the page quicker the molex part numbers are 03-09-1022 and 03-09-2022.
