Finally hooked up my K7000 to the isolation transformer and PC running mame. I hear the monitor "power up" when I kick on the power, but nothing as far as picture. I am using Ultimarc's VGA Breakout cable, so I am pretty sure the wiring is good from PC to chassis. I get a picture just fine when the PC is hooked up to a PC monitor. Any ideas where I should start in trying to figure this out?

Thanks!

I'm new here too, but one thing to check is the screen knob. It might be turned all the way down. I have a K7197, and the screen knob is below the focus knob on the flyback.

This is the flyback:

Try turning it up (clockwise) a little bit at a time, if it's turned all the way down (counter clockwise).

I'm new here too, so this may have nothing to do with your problem. I just noticed that with the monitor powered on and the screen knob turned all the way left, that the monitor is completely black.

Are you getting any neckglow when you power it up?

Not exactly sure what neckglow looks like (google didn't really help), but when I turn it on, I hear the sound a normal CRT makes, but see nothing glowing. Lots of posts out there talk about checking B+ if you have no neckglow, but I don't know what B+ is... :(

Neck glow is sometimes hard to see. Turn the monitor on and turn off the lights. Then look at the neck of the monitor where it looks like a bulb. If you see it light up you have neck glow.

do you have any static on the screen. even after the monitor has been on for 30seconds to a minute. if you don't have static it is probably in HV shut down. you should continue to get static when the monitor is on.
or the fuse is bad witch means you have a bigger problem.

Peace

Dont randomly turn thoes knobs!!!!!!!!!!

why not? all thats going to happen is the pic would be too bright or the screen would be out of focus. If the monitor cant handle the flyback knobs bieng adjusted, it has other issues.

the heater circuit resistor on the neckboard might have cold solder. had that before, it was weird lol. monitor would still crackle and power up but the CRT would just randomly fade to black until I'd tap on the monitor frame.

you might even be looking at cold solder in a few other places. if you never re-capped the monitor now might be a good time to get a kit for it. and if your flyback is an older style one with white knobs, it might be in your best interest to change that out as well. :)

Heh..

Just cause its rebuilt, doesn't mean the person touch up cold solder points.. I was such a person for years.. Just bought a cap kit or fly, tossed it in and hoped it worked.. Now I'm the guy who spends hours touching up all the solder spots.. Which can be a good thing, or you can screw it up by soldering stuff together that shouldn't be..
