K7000 - missing cap and another one not in the right spot...

I'm recapping a non working K7000 monitor for a friend (will be installing a new flyback and the big transistor as well). Almost done, but now I've run into the two largest caps in the capkit from Bob Roberts.

Bob says C50 should be a 1000uf 25v and C40 should be a 2200uf 35v

The board has the 2200uf 35v at C50 and C40 is empty. There is also a jumper on the back of the board that runs from one of the legs of the 2200uf cap at C50 back to the blade that fits though the board to which the big transistor is mounted.

I know a lot of times boards are modified, but the cap completely missing next to the flyback is a new one to me.

Should I keep it as it was or put the caps per Bob's Kit.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Now it's recapped, new flyback, new transisitor, new fuse...

OK, I decided to go with what was on the board when I got it, so I've put the 2200uf cap where the 1000uf cap would normally go and I have an empty spot where the 2200 would normally go next to the flyback. Powered up with a time pilot board and I get this:

Can't see it in the static picture easily, but you actually can see the game playing in attract mode in the background. This is not a sync issue (at least it's not due to sync being on the wrong pin)

Any ideas?

The black jumper wire was put there by Wells-Gardner as part of undocumented production changes. Leave it alone.

C40 (under the aluminum flyback cover) is supposed to be the 2200 uf cap. The C50 over by the vertical output ic's heat sink is supposed to be 1000 uf.

You need to install those capacitors as I have them listed.

Thanks Ken. Picture now comes up fine..just all blue. I know one of the transistors on the neckboard is toast...maybe 2 are. I'll check those and go from there.
