Maybe a flaky mica cap somewhere.

That funky "weird thing off of the flyback" looks like a huge resistor (470 MegaOhm), almost looks like it has been added, not factory. I have never seen one on a chassis like that before.

I just got a 7901 and mine has the same thing on it.
I need some help getting some loose wires tied down.

Have you tried the monitor on another harness (out of the cabinet) ?
