I recapped this working monitor and it looked great for about 20 minutes... Then it did this stuff. It looks like the first picture for a minute then goes to the next picture. If I turn it off for half an hour it's ok again for 10-15 minutes then it does it again. What could be causing this? Maybe cold solder? Anything else before I pull it out again?

Could play with the 50/60Hz or Horizontal Hold a bit.... but otherwise might be a solder joint on the input header pins.

I am taking a break from this thing, it got frustrating and I had another monitor sitting there begging me to go into the all mighty Top Speed. It's really puzzling since it was working good before I capped it. This is the first time capping a monitor has had a negative impact for me. I did try reflowing solder and all that.. but no change. I'll let it sit for a few days and try again. Thanks for the suggestions.

It was not horizontal hold... it was cold solder. I'm not sure where it was, I just started cleaning off and resoldering all sorts of stuff, I had tried just the normal trouble areas and obvious places and had no change... So today I did all over the place and who knows where it was but it's working good now.

The only issue now is the vertical size is too big even with the pot adjusted all the way small. I don't see a jumper anywhere.. can this just be a bad pot?

ok.. never mind about it working now. It works in Vanguard but does the same thing in Top Speed. Vanguard is my monitor testing machine since its on and end with a of of space next to it. I REALLY don't get why it works in one machine and not another. In fact, it looks great in Vanguard, better than the k4600 that's in there... so I think I might leave it in there but it leaves unanswered questions. Maybe it takes longer to get screwed up in there but it's been on 15 minutes now and it takes 5 minutes in Top Speed.

Different synchs? Can you post a picture of the RGBGS input header of the chassis and how the harness is plugged in?

There are some resistors there near the vertical size pot (perhaps one on the bottom also). If you remove the one on the bottom, it will make your picture smaller vertically. That is - if I remember correctly...
