K7000 horiz streaking/tearing

looks like your wight balance and contrast are out of adjustment.

center all the pots on the neck.

center your contrast and brightness pots on the chassis.

adjust your fly then your contrast and your drives on the neck.

if that does not help, the tube looks like it could use a rejuve.

The tube might need a rejuve, but it looks okay color-wise with a different chassis. The other problems are unrelated to the tube. I tried adjusting the pots, but the image continued to tear and smear even with screen & contrast set to make an extremely dim image.

Here's another photo: http://i.imgur.com/tRAaY.jpg

It's almost like it's losing horizontal sync.

i would verify that your H-Hold and H-Pos pot are not cracked and that you are only using pin 10 for synk.

also i had this similar issue earlier today make sure your VIDEO ground is making proper contact in the connector and on the chassis.
i had similar problems today with my test station and it was a bad ground wire it was only connected by one strand of wire.

i have to inspect the wires on a regular basis due to the constant plug and UN-pluging of the connector when testing allot of chassis.

The pots seem fine. Adjusting them adjusts the position and hold, and the image doesn't jump around. Should I be testing them in some other way? Metering?

Sync should be fine. The MVS has a single connector, the K7000 has a single header, there's no way to put it in wrong. Another K7000 chassis (with other problems) syncs fine in the same setup.

This is the wire that goes from the neckboard to the frame ground, yes? It's connected just fine.

Here's a video, which I hope better illustrates what's going on: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6120067/K7000.m4v

1. Left edges of things are much brighter than the middle/right.
2. Upwards-rolling bars in the image.
3. Horizontal tearing.

What should I be looking at?

from the video it looks as if you are running a 19" chassis on a 25" tube??

no i am talking your video ground.

make sure one or both is connected.

and for giggles verify your synk wires also.
i have to re-pin mine allot because of all the chassis i repair, it takes a toll on where the wires are crimped to the pins.

No, I was just fiddling with the adjustments to see if it changed anything. It will fill the screen when adjusted properly.

I'll double-check, but I am very certain it's connected correctly.
