My friend wanted me to ask the forum for ideas on what to check. He said that the caps were checked and whatever was bad was replaced. I believe he said the flyback was also replaced. IC might have been replaced with one from another junk chassis which made no difference.

As you can see from the picture, cannot get full screen. Adjusting the remote controller only makes a very slight difference in size.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

that is a vertical deflection problem and caps, resistors, transistors can all cause it along with cold solder joint or cracks in the PCB. i would search the k7000 flowchart on google and it will list a few components to start testing.

BTW: if your capping a monitor ALWAYS replace all the electrolytic caps because at this age of monitor if some are bad others are probably not far from it either.

Thank you very much for the replies. I will pass on the info and flowchart to my friend.

Has he checked for the 24 volts and to see if R91 is open yet? Also may want to add the vertical height pot to the list of things to check. Make sure it isn't cracked.

it's a remote board, so this is very much a realistic possibility. I can't tell from a static picture, but also verify the wires that come from the remote to where the pots mount on the deflection board are all intact too, as those can fray and break off.

My friend finally had a chance to work on the chassis again.

+24V @ IC3 pin 6 is good.
Remote board replaced with a known good one.
Wires harness to the remote board tested good.
R91 tested good.

IC3 pin 7 tested 0 voltage. I think he said it should be around 2V.

Any idea what to check next?

what is your input voltage on IC1.
if it is not getting power the vertical section will not work.

you may need to sub out the vertical IC.

if you hit a brick wall, your welcome to send it in.
if you need parts i stock them.

Peace
Buffett
