k7000 focus good 6 seconds then slightly not for 6?

Original monitor in a mortal Kombat cab. 25" wells gardner k7000

I fully recapped a few months back. After about 5 hours the focus was way off and it appeared the flyback was failing. I replaced the flyback with a new one. Everything has been fine I thought but every time the character screen in attract changes if you look at the text it is in focus for a around 6 seconds then the focus blooms just enough that the text is not sharp anymore, screen changes to another character and the issue repeats. I should note that I have noticed that the tube has a brown tint to it suggesting a lot of hours. Contrast I have set low and brightness and it still happens. Tube does appear somewhat weak.

here's what I think,

Possible bad new flyback
Worn tube?
Should I replace the HOT or other IC? I bought the full kit from Chad so I think I have some.

thanks,
nate

ive hed brand new k7000 flys with really krappy pots in the fly. Id give them a gentlewiggle while monitoring the video with a mirror. Could be your new fly is krappy.

i have also need a bad tube cause focus issues but usually this is an always issue or always hot, always cold not intermittent

If the pic is weak, id get the tube checked and rejuved before i went much further throwing parts at it, etc.

for the blooming did you replace the filter cap.

if you want to test it on another tube you can bring it by.
or change out the fly i have several brand new here.

Peace

Hi,

No i did not replace the filer cap. Could this really be the problem? with bright screens the raster does change in size a bit but I thought this is normal. I am going to work on it this weekend. I did manage to find a few replacement tubes that I am planning on checking. (from goodwill) I guess I should get some replacement filter caps since most of my games are k7000's. What are the signs of a worn filter cap? My lethal enforcers also has this as well but again I thought it was normal.

Buffett, do you happen to have a rejuvenator?

This is going to be either a failing tube or an issue right at the neck. First
check all the pins on the neck. I've seen the G2 pin actually burned off
but still stuck in the glass and the focus did exactly what yours is doing.

If the pins are solid, check the G2 (screen) connection on the neckboard.
A lot of times you will get a broken solder joint and the wire will be wrapped
on the terminal but no solid connection.

I have some extra sockets I took from donor TV's if you need any to make adapters. I have a Rejuvenator(older model RCA I think, I need to make adapters) but I do not know how to use it yet or if it even works.

I will check what you said. I hope it is not the tube as I was not ready to replace it. I do have about 10 good donor tubes I have been hording in my shed for this purpose though.

I may take you up on your offer. I will PM you later and take it off the forum.

thanks,
nate
