THANKS EVERYONE! I have figured this out.

Hello, I am going to be installing a new flyback/cap kit on my K7000 in a bit. I have never replaced a flyback transformer before, and I have one question.

There is a wire that goes directly from the flyback to the white socket (where the crt neck plugs in) on the neckboard. How do I remove this wire from the socket so I can put the new one in?

Or do I just splice the new wire on to the old one?

Here is a diagram of my question:

It depends on the kind of socket you have. Can you post a pic? You have to unsolder the wire on some of these and on others it comes right out when you undo the latch.

It does have a latch (I think) and I was looking around to see how to undo it. I tried a lot of stuff but was unable to.

Here is a pic of the black wire I need to remove:

that style you have to desolder
if you look on the back side bottom

in your pic top part facing left
there will be a little catch on that plastic part that you pry a little with a screwdriver then the case will pop open then desolder old one and solder new one in its place
