Hey all,

I picked up a flyback kit from Bob... got the caps on... went to install the new flyback (This is my first flyback install) and I cant get the flyback pins to get through the holes in the board.

There is crap all over the pins of the flyback... any tips? I already cleaned the solder off the board really well.

Thanks!

i need to see a pic of the Crap on the pins.

you will need to adjust and play with the pins to get them to line up with the holes in the chassis.

one tip if you want to do this is: unsolder the H.O.T fro the chassis (don't remove it leave it on the heat sink.) take the screw out that holds that heat sink to the larger heat sink on the side of the chassis and bend it forward a little and you can get a straighter shot wile installing the fly.
then bend it back put the screw back in and re-solder the hot back down on the chassis. there is no need to remove the H.O.T if you just unsolder it from the chassis.

the problem is they get bent wile being shipped its unavoidable.

i installed 5 K7000 flybacks today and none of them just dropped in.
i had to futch with every one to get them to go.

hope this helps.

Hey Buffett been a while man... well you were right I was thinking the crap which looked like solder was causing the problem but it was really the pins being bent.

I was trying to install with the heat sink on it... took that off with the HOT got it on.

I had to bend the metal to get the heat sink or metal L bracket to get back on but it is on.

The hot was holding to it with a sticker.. that came off. Does the HOT just need to be up against it?

Thanks again... as usual!

sup hows it been.

good to see you got it in.

the H.O.T MUST have the insulator behind it or it will BLOW.

was there a bolt and nut holding the H.O.T to the L shaped heat sink??
there should be.

take a pic and post it if you are not sure.

Peace
Buffett

Yup found it. I put the sheild in between and screwed it back to the heat sink.

Does it matter which way the sheild is facing (One surface different then other side?

Im good to go! Just need to adjust the picture now. Thanks again for the help Buffett you are like a machine with these chassis!
