I have a good chassis from a K7191 I would like to put on the tube from a K7131. Both are the Zenith two red wire from the flyback, thus same transformer I believe, one has a small adjustment board (7191)while the other does not, can you swap these clean? I searched here but could not find conclusive evidence...I dont have the tube numbers handy, any help would be appreciated, thanks guys...

tubes will be the same , just ohm out the yokes to see if they are compatible. I think its a straight swap in . also hope like hell those flys dont go on you , no replacements

Yea I am aware they have a finite life, but then again, there are some replacement boards out there I have found I think, not cheap by any means

I just got two brand new K7000 flybacks in the mail recently, and already used one....

K7000 flybacks won't work on the Zenith K7000a (the two models the op is refering to). The Zenith flybacks have two wires to the annode cup and are no longer made or available anywhere that I am aware of.

That is what I understood, I am just worried that I will do damage to either the good board or the good tube in replacement.....yikes, any other votes of confindence?.......

Sorry, wasn't trying to be discouraging. I just didn't want anyone to get confused and think a normal k7000 flyback could be used on the Zenith made k7000a chassis.

Well, for some reason I thought he was referring to the tube (Zenith) rather than the chassis.....

Well, I swapped these and it did fire up, but interesting, it had the same problem from tube to tube, low red color. Now originally I thought it was a bad tube-gun etc, but the new swapped chassis went into a good tube, pretty much same issue with red. I adjusted the colors on the neck, but little change.....Thus question, where, what do I test, to see what is faulty, a new cap kit is on the way, but the picture otherwise is crisp and clean. Would a cap kit hedge the color issue, I guess I have never experienced that before....thanks in advance...

It still could be the tube. Most of the K7000 monitors (25") I get to repair have all had their red guns turned up almost to max in an effort to get a brighter picture. This from Ops that don't have a clue what they are doing. As a result, the red guns get "burned out" or weak. The only way to be sure is to check the tube/tubes with a rejuvenator. You did check the pots on the neck board to make sure they were all set evenly didn't you?
