Hello Group,
Same issue I have read many posts about on this forum. Chassis fuse blows on power up, roughly two seconds after turning on. I have watched numerous videos online as well as read the posts in this forum related to my issue. I have gone through the troubleshooting tree in my K7000 manual. Tried everyones suggestions, all diodes, resistors, check the HOT & VR, recapped the board including C36 and C38, checked C37. Installed a new Flyback I purchased from Arcade Parts Online as my original unit was cracked and in overall bad condition in my opinion. When I initially started troubleshooting the issue, I did find the VR was shorted. It has been replaced including a new mica insulator. New insulator in the HOT as well. All solder joints have been reflowed, cracks were found. I have fired up the chassis with the neck board disconnected from the monitor as well as the degaussing coil. Still blows the fuse...which is a 1.5A / 250V slow blow style.
While I would appreciate any input on my troubleshooting, here is my main question:
It appears my chassis has additional wiring from the others I have seen online and in person. In particular, a terminal strip on the back of the chassis with two ceramic capacitiors, a resistor and a red wire that is attached to the center leg of the HOT as well as a white wire that goes to one leg of R69 / C28 which has no component. Being as the HOT can be responsible for blown fuses, is this extra wiring legit? Could it be the cause of my issue? I have not removed as it appears there is additional components on the back of my chassis that have been installed for unknown reasons. Thinking this could be a fix for a previous issue?
Appreciate any help you can provide.
Jay
