Hey guys,

Struggling with a WG K7901 monitor that appears to have a voltage regulator failure. According to the flowchart, I should first replace cap C57.

Cap C57 lists in the manual as a 47uf 160V cap, which I have one of. On the chassis it is a 47uf 250V cap, which I do not have.

I know some of these critical caps were recommended to be upgraded by the manufacturer: anyone know if this was one of these?

Thanks,
Saltbreez

Im not sure if there was a mfg upgrade, but that is a common cap to go bad and I have always put the hight volt in when i could.

install the 47uf 160v and fire it up is what i'd do. i dont know if that capacitor was one of the upgrades or not. ken might know.

if i could ever get to my boxes of working and non working chassis i could tell you for sure whats in em...

mabye ill make that a prioroty this weekend.

moving soaks the cork thats for sure

Not sure which cap number it is, but the 47uf at 160v sounds very familiar. The only problems I've run into (most commonly) on a K7000 is the two power supply caps, both located near the fuse. 47uf at 160v and 22uf at 160v. I can get you the locations if necessary, putting a 250v in won't hurt anything. Also, get hi-temps, if you can. You'll get a little more longevity out of it that way. Other than those two caps, flybacks, and horizontal output transistors, they really run pretty well, at least in my experience.

Got pic!

Well, I replaced the cap and the monitor came back to life...

Really makes me wonder if I need to get a 47uf 250V 105C cap just to be safe...

The 160V one is stock. People upgrade them because it is one of the ones that goes bad more than others. I always swap them out for a 200V one.
