Wellllllllll doggie as leinhit would say...

i have a 25 incher k7000 here.. bought chassis as known bad.. i guess that was my first mistake.

when i got it fly was blown. Hot was dead shorted, vr was DEAD shorted between pins 1 and 4, fuse blown, and it had TONS of cold solder r101 the width coil was actually loose due to it, etc etc... c36 checked ok, diodes checked ok.

patched it all up,(NEW FLY, VR, HOT, FUSE) powered up for 1/2 sec with high pitched squeal and fuse got red hot and blew again...

Rechecking it THE NEW vr shows 100 ohms between pins 1 and 4(almost dead shorted), all diodes and c36 checking good, hot checking good.. good mica insulation between hot and frame checked with dmm. rechecked solder job no solder bridges found. Checked some other non electrolytic caps in the area nothing found. Large ceramic resistors not shorted either.

wtf? what am i missing fellas????

still nothing found, my 25 incher does not have a few of those diodes and no c37 iirc

i did find something interesting.. are the 19 and 25 inch supposed to use the same width coil?? like i said earlier the solder was poor/balled up and broken around the width coil..

all my 19s have a magnet or ferrite type thing on top of the coil and the coil is black..

this chassis has a taller coil thats white, no ferrite on top, and has the number 9a238-001

so, is that the wrong width coil? i hope i just foumd my issue, but with my luck- i doubt it.

Man you are a glutton for punishment!

Maybe try it without the yoke connected and see what happens? Could be a mismatched yoke.

My fuse blowing problem turned out to be a bad BRAND NEW flyback right out of the box.

That Anatek Blue Ring flyback tester I now have confirmed a bad flyback.

It was the 19 dollar one. However, don't let the low price fool you. Any brand of flyback can be bad right out of the box.

mines a cheapo too..

i have a known good fly and another good v reg.. i guess i will give it a shot and see what i get. Gonna be real pissed off if this new fly is the culprit.

poked around again tonight v reg checks ok replaced anyways and put ina known good fly, same result.. instant fuse poppin'

im about ready to put a fat wire across the fuse terminals and let it have its way...

yeah i guess i need to pm em and beg lol

Ken.. mod... either of you interested in helping a brothah out? :D

You could try a low wattage lightbulb in place of the fuse and see if anything gets toasty. Squealing sound means somethings gotta be shorted.
