I had this Xmen on location since 2017 and just brought it back home. The only issue I ever had was the replacement flyback blew up.

Once home there was about 1/2 inch gap on both sides with the width coil maxed out. I swapped the original c38 width cap with a .33 from apar width cap kit. Looked perfect for a few days and then this morning horizontal collapse and the smell of burning. Replacement width cap blew its guts.

So what would cause this? Bad cap? 1000003520.jpg

wow , I've never seen that. My first thought would be undervoltage on the cap, but that is a big beefy cap.

that cap is tiny lol

that's horizontal deflection though, won't be the cause of the vertical collapse :( it's one of those things I'd have to see myself to help more with. maybe @zenomorp can help.

.33uf/.39uf is what they came with from the factory (most of them). Odd that you had to install a .33uf Only really seen this when there's a yoke issue (high resistance/impedance). Is this an original K7000 yoke? What does your horizontal winding read? Should be around 2 ohms. Is your fuse blown? If not, check the rating. Make sure it's 2a and not something higher. The fuse should have blown well before the cap puked it's guts out.
