K7000 Blowing Fuses On Power Up (yet another thread)

So a friend has a K7000 that is smoking fuses on power up. After finally getting my Local413 special working I felt kind of ok taking a look at it.

First thing I did was look at the flyback, it had some tasty ooze.

Next I tested the HOT. Totally smoked.

Checked C38 and all was well.

C37, shorted.

So I rolled up my sleeves and took out the fly/HOT and wowza, C69 was TOAST, as well as C36. I decided to stop there and drop my buddy a line to see if he wanted to pony up the $$ for parts. I told him I couldn't guarantee that there wouldn't be more stuff down the line that had taken a hit.

I think it would be best for him to send this out to someone with more experience. That being said, last year I wouldn't know where to start with these, I was able to get this far today thanks to all of you guys. So many thanks.

personally i would replace caps, hot, flyback c69, c36 and check diodes in the power supply section d19-d22, test VR and reflow. then power it up and see what you have. i have seen those items bad and there usually isn't much major after that in my experience, so i think you would do awesome giving it a shot.
