Gentlemen,
I recently picked up this K7000 that showed a wicked color display upon power-up. I swapped with another chassis, and it still looks the same. The picture is shown in the attachment, and I can hear arcing from the monitor and the picture flickers. Do you think the tube is bad? Thanks in advance.

It could be a bad tube. It could just need a serious degauss, or the yoke could have moved. Of course, you could have a cracked neck as well.

Is the crackling internal to the tube? Can you see it in the neck of the tube?

The answer to your question is yes, sir, the crackling is occuring in the neck. Thanks.

What color are the sparks? Is everything orange in color or blue? Orange shorts may be fixable while blue sparks tend to indicate a cracked neck that has filled with air.

Excellent (heavy sarcasm) ................... and I was having such a good day. Anyway, thanks guys.
