Ok, so here is another dead monitor I picked up.

When first firing it up I saw electricity coming out of the flyback and immediately turned it off. Always an adventure when you get non working, not marked monitors :). Anyway, I replaced the flyback and got picture, but with this weird distortion at the top. I then did a full cap kit and the problem is the same.

I checked the bottom of the pcb and looked in the normal k7000 trouble areas and besides one bad solder that was on one of the caps I replaced, everything else looked good.

Fired it back up and I have the same problem. It takes a lot of pot adjustment to even get this screen, otherwise it almost looks out of sync.

Thanks again,
Ed

Thanks Ken,

I tried the 50/60 already (sorry, should have posted) and that's how I got this picture to begin with, otherwise it looked out of sync.

As for the sync wiring, it's standard Jamma. I just finished another k7000 monitor with the same bench rig so I don't think that's the issue.

I will try the contrast.

OK, it does get better or worse when I adjust both contrast and black level. But never to a point where it completely goes away.

Could it be a bad new flyback?

i have seen it where if you unplug just the synk wile its on and plug it back in it fixes it. but just the synk leave the RGB G still hooked up.
i have done it that way. but why it does that i don't know.

i have also seen it where the yoke was a slight mismatch and you had to change the chassis or adjust it out the best you could.

Peace
Buffett

Tried the plugging in the sync once it's on, no change.

So based on other stuff I have read it sounds like it's possible this tube was swapped at some point and is a non compatible tube?

OK, so now I am completely confused.

My jamma test bench always has the same board (DJ Boy with test mode cross pattern). I have the +Hor and +Vert syncs attached together. Never had issue with Jamma games on any monitor.

Now this curl thing after a new cap kit and flyback. Well I removed my sync wires and attached to the -Horiz and everything works great.

I don't understand. I mean I'm happy it's working now, but I thought the neg syncs were game specific, and i have been using the same game for a while. On my 13" test bench monitor to the other 2 K7000 I worked on this week.

Yeah, and that would be fine. But the changing from Positive to Negative is what is odd to me. Maybe it's not to anyone else LOL
