Guys, I've been working on K7000s for at least 8 years and for some reason I have not run across this specific version of the K7000 until now. I know there are different versions of main boards with different voltage regulators and vertical circuits but this is the first I have seen this. To my even greater surprise, I came across 3 in one lot that I purchased from eBay. I'm just curious as to what this particular chassis went to. It is a K7193. This particular chassis type can be determined by the large heat sink that rises above the board BUT instead of being flat, it is shaped much like the smaller 19 inch version. That is, it is shaped like a "Z" or "S". The interesting thing is that the vertical IC is different from any of the others I have seen before. I can verify that they are NOT interchangeable with the regular K7000 version. These are narrower and shaped like the outline of a house whereas the regular IC is rectangular and much wider than it is taller. I apologize for not have the part numbers but I've already reinstalled the chassis in a game and cannot get to it. The second one has an NTE replacement. I've got the part numbers written down somewhere but misplaced the piece of paper.
Why is this important? Because if I have not run across this before, many of you may not have either. I will try to find my camera to get some photos to illustrate the differences. I might also point out that there is a disc cap in front of the vertical IC next to a poly cap. The positioning of this cap is different from the regular K7000 as well. (This was part of my problem as the disc cap was missing but hidden by the other cap). Finally, one of the 7193 varieties had a small riser board whereas the other did not. Not sure what the reason is for that riser board. Can anyone enlighten me?
Fortunately I had a copy of Randy Fromm's green boook of schematics for monitors and there is a K7000 25 inch specific schematic in there. The interesting thing is that there is a small box to the bottom right of the schematic that states that this version of the chassis does not have a few resistors that the other model does (K7191 I think). Yet my chassis all have that resistor in palce and they appear to be factory installed.
Once again there are many differences in the chassis models and this is now a 5th variety that I have run across. Seems like most of the K7000-25s I rebuild are K7191s. Thought I'd post this to alleviate any frustration some of you might have in repairing this chassis and keep you from installing the incorrect part while troubleshooting a vertical issue like I did.
