I have my own K7000 monitor (19") which has some serious jitter when there's lots of flashes on screen and during transitions.

Seems like more like a failing component rather than an actual cold solder.
I figure to check for all cold solders and maybe cap this tube. Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

it's also got a funny looking K7000

anyone know the story on this type of chassis? Its a fat neck tube also.

That is a K7000A. They are fairly common and most of the parts are available except the flyback. If it goes then the chassis is only good for parts.

The symptoms you describe sound like the HV is having trouble keeping up. Your VR could be almost ready to fail or it could just be failing caps. Personally I would just cap it and hope for the best - I don't throw muich money into these chassis due to the lack of a replacement flyback.

I've got a donor chassis for this one if you need it. Flyback is hosed, but there still several good components on it. LMK if you want it.

that's cool... any thoughts on the jitter? the colors brightness and focus seem all good. no signs of a bad flyback.
