Troubleshooting a k7000 that keeps burning up r92 and r90. This happened before and I resolved it for a few weeks by doing the following:
Recap
new flyback
new caps @ c42 , c43.
D14 tests fine.
Checked caps for correct orientation.
After recapping and replacing the flyback it worked great for about 10 or so hours, off and on. Now it is back to burning up r92 and making r90 really hot.
Lifting one side of R90 and powering the 12v rail from a bench PSU shows it drawing 100 Milliamp, which doesn't look too bad. (rest of the chassis is unpowered tho. Just powering the 12v looking for shorts) Could the replacement flyback be bad as well? I bought it from Arcade Parts and Repair where I usually get my flybacks. How does one test a flyback without a ring tester to check the windings? I hate to keep burning up resistors but I can't get it to stay on long enough to measure voltages. It smokes them pretty much instantly. Any Ideas?
