k4900 tube swap?

The trick is to try to read the tube # through the vents before you buy the tv. Print out the tube list I posted here and then when you read the tube # you can check the list to make sure it's a cr-23 (what you'll want for most monitors). You'll want a flashlight to see through the vents. Sometimes that's not good enough though. I frequent the goodwill outlet and I bring little wire clippers so if I can't read the tube # I can cut out one of those vent bar things to see better. Obviously not something you can get away with at a garage sale, and even at the goodwill outlet I have to be careful not to be seen. I don't buy a tube unless I know it'll work.

What are the tube numbers on those tv's?

Argh...I just put the cases back on them. I'll try later on tonight to get them.

Now that I look at the backs of the cases, the manufacture dates are probably too new. '95 (closest match), 2000 and 2003 (No way those will work the neck sockets are little).

Unless, newer ones are even worth cracking the tv's back open again??

I just grabbed them up because they were cheap and in the slight chance maybe I would get lucky. No big deal though, plenty of places around here that will take them for free. I'm only out 15$ and When I was looking at them a few things "clicked" in my head out monitors in general. So I learned something.

The newer ones have value to me. The smaller necks likely use a CR31 pinout. I would like to build a 19" K7000 that uses the smaller neck tube and I need the neck boards to build adaptors for other guys. Can you save them for me Larry? It looks like my work load is dropping off soon and I will be able to make it back out to your place then.

Of course! They're yours.

I know this thread is 5 years old but when searching info. on a tube swap with this tube # A48AAb13X02 this pops up 1st in a Google search. That being said I found one of these RCA TV's with this tube number and the "bonded" tube. Anyways I was (very easily actually) able to remove the "bonded" yoke from the neck tube. I used wire cutters and a very small flat screw driver. Taking my time I broke away most of the plastic just leaving the copper wiring around the yoke. I slowly cut that away and was able to remove all the magnets etc... The brown bonding material they used was very brittle, (probably due to age) and broke away. Anyways if someone comes across this tube they can get it to work with the original yoke and have some mirrior issues, (see above comments). Or you can work away at removing the original yoke and use the original Arcade monitors yoke.

hope this helps,

Here is my Joust with the tube swap, turned out great. I hope this will help someone else out.

i need to replace the 19K4626 in my centipede.....i read thru this thread and i'm a little lost on a few things....one being to "ohm out a yoke" to see if one tube can be installed on a chassis...are there steps posted on this procedure somewhere?

And let me as..I have a G07 tube i'm not using....can I install that tube on the 4600 chassis?

the 4600 chassis won't work on the go7 tube, however it may be possible to swap yokes and have it work since they both have the cr23 neck, hopefully someone more knowledgeable on that will chime in.

there are some tutorials on measuring the yoke impedance, it is very easy, and the rca tv I gave you a link to in your wtb add should be a pretty direct tube swap for a 4600.

the tube pinout for a 4600 and a 4900 are the same.

you can use either tube for those chassis.

you MUST swap the yokes to go with the chassis your using.

the tube may work but may be a pain to converge.

some tubes are easy to swap and some are not.

Peace
