I recently acquired a non-working Galaga UR. I pulled the chassis and it looks like it needs some overhaul. I'm still a beginner and pretty terrible at reading schematics so I was looking for some guidance as to what work needs to be done aside from capping the board and re-flowing cold or bridged joints. There is a missing 4-pin input header on the neckboard along with some awkward jumpers on the chassis itself including a jumper over a pretty severe blowout on the board. I'm having trouble identifying what was once there and if it's repairable. There is also a ceramic cap and a resistor on the solder side of the board and I'm wondering what their purpose might be.

Nothing too bad there. The burn mark looks like something that happens when the chassis isn't bolted down when powered up, and it slides loose and shorts on the frame. Looks to be jumpered okay.

The neckboard connector can be redone, or you can cut and direct-solder the wires.

Recap, reflow, test the VR, HOT, and fuse, then try it out...

Not as long as you are using imageshack to host your damn pics, with all of their freaking dumbass pop-ups.

I apologize, I tried posting them as attachments but only 3 would work. Filesizes too large maybe?

Should I desolder the cap and resistor on the solder side of the board? What are these doing?

Learn how to insert them here in your posts so we don't have to go to the site. Only 5 can be done per post, but it's easier for us to help.

Those are undocumented add-ons done at the factory. Leave them alone...
