Hello. I have a K4900 monitor with a portion of the right side of the screen not showing a picture. This missing portion is still there when the picture rolls. Is this issue that can be resolved with a cap kit or is there an issue with the tube or the yoke?

You can rule out the tube itself by flipping the Yoke wires so the image is reversed [Horizontal - Red/Blue pair] (the missing portion should switch to the other side. If it does, then the tube itself is fine and it's either the yoke or chassis. If it stays there and doesn't move to the other side, the issue is with the tube itself.

if it has the original caps, covered in green sealant, you absolutely need to replace them.

I remember the old days here where if any monitor issue was posted you'd have people say "install a cap kit"... that's why they were branded as "Get Well" kits. lol

I've never had a monitor with the black blob issue. I've read about it happening on G07s for a long time, I can never remember what exactly was wrong though. if it's just caps or the flyback.

the good news is now, unlike 18 years ago, you don't have to mail checks and wait for them to clear to get cap kits.
