I had full range of control, but it just went from completely blurry to slightly less completely blurry. You're first thought would be a bad flyback, but I had full control. It was just different levels of blurriness. Took a close look at the neck socket because the symptom was very reminiscent of what happens when people wash the chassis and don't blow the water out. They just let it air dry and the moisture sits in the focus plates and corrodes/oxidizes them. Sure enough, that's what happened here. I could see the green corrosion peeking out of the focus leg on the bottom side. If you wash your chassis, PLEASE blow all the water out as best as you can before letting it dry or this can happen. It's best not to even get any water in the socket. If you need to wash the neck, I would not douse it in water. If you have to, make sure to blow out all the water you can. Replaced the neck socket with a brand new one and it's back in business. Sorry I don't have any 'before' pics. I got a bit overzealous with wanting to tear apart the old neck socket that I forgot to take them.
