You guys were awesome on my last monitor problem so might as well ask on the next one. I have a k4900 that is curving inward on both sides. Is it possible that caps would fix this or is it probably something else?

Thanks for looking!

which caps in particular cause this issue? I have the same problem on a K7000.

I was reading an old article by Randy Fromm and in the k7000 part he said;

"Horizontal bending caused by insufficient sync level. Decrease R43 all the way to short if necessary."

Is this hourglass problem what he meant by "horizontal bending" or is that something different?

replace them all.

if your chassis has never had service, then more than 1 cap will be causing this issue.

I've already done a cap kit, all nichicon and panasonic but still have the problem :( which ones should I double check? what do you think about the R43 comment from the article? is it worth trying?

the K7000 and 4900 are 2 different chassis.

do not mix and match articles or advice for them.

one part in one chassis can be a totally different part in another and have absolutely nothing to do with each circuit.

i do not know what resisters, or parts control the "bending" issues on the 4900.
i have never had that issue.

i would start looking at the schematic and working your way threw the Horizontal circuit and looking for out of spec parts.
after that broaden your search into other areas.

I'm not mixing & matching, I have a k7000 and the article was about the k7000.

If anyone has had this problem with a k7000 & has managed to fix it, I'd love to know how.

sorry for the confusion by posting in a thread about the 4900, but the pics show the problem I have with my k7000

so why is the title to this thread about a 4900?

i also have not had that issue on the K7000.

i also have never read the article you are referring to about R43.
please link it.

I thought pincushion problem was quite common with the k7000?

i personally have not had problems with it, and nobody has ever messaged me about it, so i cannot say that it is a common issue.

thanks for the link, i will give it a read.

i would check the value of R43 and if it is bad replace it and see what you get.

if your problem persists, then start changing the value to see the results.

be sure to post your findings here in this thread so we can see the results of the topic in question and help others in the future.

will do, by the way, do you know if "T2" for K7000 is still available to buy or can they only be got from parts boards?

if your T2 was bad the chassis would not work at all.

other than one of the coils being psychically broken from the transformer being struck by something, i have not had a bad one.

i am not aware of them being for sale new, but if you need one i have several used ones.
