So I have a k4900 chassis that is blowing HOTS and fuses. When I first got the unit, I noticed someone soldered a small wire between the fuse pads... I removed that straight away and clipped my breaker in place then tried to fire it up. It didn't work, so I tracked it to the HOT. Looking at Randy's chart, it says to replace the hot if fuse is blown and hot is blown, and it rare cases look at diodes D501-504. I didn't check the diodes, but replaced the HOT. Nothing. Checked the newly replaced HOT, it's now shorted and bad. I threw out a few G-damnits and then later checked the diodes, which were fine. The degaussing coil / wire wasn't shorted either.
Is it safe to say the flyback is bad, and unfortunately replacements are unavailable?
