Hi Everyone, I mistakenly posted this to the Discussion page, so I'm correcting my error. I just bought a large group of K4600 monitors. I'm running into several of them that have issues a cap kit won't fix. (no neck glow, lack of colors, excessive colors, etc) I've compiled a list of components (mostly transistors) using the WG manual that cause these issues according to Randy Fromm's flowchart. The problem is, I am having a hard time finding a source to buy these parts from. I've checked Mouser, Bob Roberts, GPE and Big Daddy, none of them offer all the parts I need. Does anyone out there know where I can buy these parts and get these monitors up and running again? Thanks for your help, --Rich

As I mentioned in your other thread, which particular transistors can you not find? There are a lot of different parts on the 4600, and I really don't feel like going thru the entire parts list and then finding links to a supplier for every single one, especially since i don't know which you've already found and which you haven't.

Besides, some parts may no longer be made, and may need to be scavenged from a parts chassis.

You also may have better luck finding these parts at Mouser or wherever if you search using the NTE cross reference number:

Hey Modessitt, Wow, that NTE link found substitutes for all the parts I couldn't find. Thank you very much for that link! Those NTE substitutes are a lot more expensive then the regular parts that I could find. Pretty much I'm looking for TR601/2sc1893, TR401, 402 and 403/2sc2068 and the transistors on the horizontal/vertical board. I really appreciate the help you're giving me. --Rich

Before you go shotgunning a bunch of transistors, try testing them to see if you can find any suspect ones.

Also note that broken solder joints can cause all kinds of issues - don't rely on just the solder job on the caps alone!
