i have a wells gardner k4600 that was not working, i changed the caps and turned on to test. when it turns on i hear a high pitch squeal. there is high voltage to the cup, as i can see the voltage on high voltage prop

i have changed caps on other k4600 monitors and have never heard this before.

what is the high squeal coming from. i have never heard that before? i am assuming that it is a bad thing?

is there a part that needs to be changed?

thanks for any insight you can give me.

Sounds like you horizontal oscillator is off. Make sure you got all the caps right on the XY board. I had a XY board from a4600 (not-recapped) make a high(er) pitched whine then normal and it killed the flyback. Does the monitor actually work? It could also be a bad solder joint singing. Do you have another XY board you can try?

Found the issue. There is a red wire that comes out of the flyback to the neck board plasic that connects directly to the pins on the tube. That was completly disconnected and did not even notice. Tube works great now.
Thanks for the help...
